Do you know that Kačenka is considered the princess of Orlické Mountains? You can explore Kačenka's fairytale trail, which is located in nearby Deštné. The entire circuit is approximately 5 km long and 18 stops await you along the way surrounded by nature. At each of these stations you can read a fairy tale and complete a task. An integral part of individual stops are also interactive elements that aim to develop children. Along the route, you can refresh yourself in the stylish Kozí chlívek restaurant, where you can taste typical old Bohemian cuisine.

Velka Deštná

Velká Deštná rises to a height of 1,115 meters above sea level and is the highest peak of the Eagle Mountains. You can go there either on foot or by bike. The easiest ascent awaits you along the red hiking trail from Šerlich. If you are looking for something a little more difficult, you can go to the top from Bedřichovka or Zákoutí v Deštné. Since 2019, a 19-meter-high observation tower has been opened at the top, thanks to which you can enjoy breathtaking views of the surroundings. If you get hungry on the way, you can stop at the buffet in the mountain service hut at the Jirásk mountain path below the peak. But beware, it is only open on weekends.

Kunštát Chapel

An important symbol of the Orlické Mountains is the Kunštátská chapel, which is located at an altitude of 1,035 m above sea level and is therefore called the highest chapel in our country. It was built in 1760 and in the past served as a place of worship for woodworkers. During the displacement of the German population after World War II, its interior was destroyed, but over time it underwent reconstruction. Currently, you can find a replica of the original altar and pieta in it.

Earth Gate

The Earth Gate educational trail allows you to discover the most beautiful section of Divoká Orlice. This is a rocky section in the Orlické Mountains, where the river has hollowed out a romantic valley. The trail starts at the stone bridge and its route measures 3 km. There are 22 stops waiting for you along the way, thanks to which you will learn interesting information about the local nature and the past of the Eagle Mountains. Thanks to the fact that the route is easy, it is also suitable for smaller children.

Ostaš rock maze

When visiting the Orlické Mountains, you should definitely not miss Ostaš, which consists of two rock towns. These are known as the Upper and Lower Labyrinth and are declared nature reserves. This trip invites you to walk through the intricate alleys of individual rocks. At the same time, you can go all the way to the top plateau of the Ostaš table mountain, which boasts perfect views of the surroundings. You can also enjoy the views from the Frýdlanská lookout.

Anenský vrch

For beautiful views of the surroundings, you can also go to Anenský vrch, which is one of the dominant peaks of the Eagle Mountains. Since 2010, a new observation tower has been built on it. You can go to this peak from several directions. The shortest access is via the red-marked Jiráská path from Hanička, or from the Mezivrší saddle. You can also go to Anenský vrch from Říček or Rokytnice in Orlické hory. During the season, you can have refreshments at the buffet, which is located near the Hanička fortress.

Adrspaš rocks

In the Adršpašsko-teplické rock nature reserve, you will find yourself in a completely different world for a while. This rock city consists of a thousand rock towers and the individual views will literally take your breath away. For example, you can walk along an alley that is only 50 cm narrow or admire a lake with crystal clear water. The 16-meter Great Waterfall, which falls from the Milenci tower, is also worth paying attention to. If you want to go to Adršpašské skaly, remember that tickets must be purchased online in advance due to availability.

Mount Kozinec

Between Žamberk and Letohrad is Kozinec Hill, from which you can enjoy wonderful views of the surroundings. At the same time, a narrow footpath with steep slopes leads to its top. There is a viewing platform at the top. You can climb to Kozinec on a real goat trail that leads from the village of Písečná. The goat trail itself is approximately 1 km long.

Nové Město nad Metují Castle

If you visit Nové Město nad Metují, don't forget to visit the local castle, which is part of the city's conservation area. It was founded in 1501 by Jan Černčický from Kácov. You can visit it all year round, including the charming castle garden. From April to October, there is even a freely accessible piano in the castle courtyard that you can play on.

The Renaissance castle Častolovice, which is inhabited and accessible to visitors, is also worth noting. An English park with a menagerie and a lake is an integral part of the castle. Kolowrat castle Rychnov nad Kněžnou

The castle in Rychnov nad Kněžnou was originally built as a Baroque building. From 1640 until today, it has been the seat of the noble Kolowrat family. In the castle, you can see, for example, the knight's hall, the men's, women's and children's rooms, as well as the cabinet of glass and fans. The paintings exhibited here are also worth mentioning.

In Kostelec nad Orlicí you will find two castles. While the Old Castle near the square is rather inconspicuous, the New Castle is likely to catch your eye at first sight. This is a noble empire building in an English park, reminiscent of the Kinsky summer palace in Prague.

This late Gothic castle was created thanks to the reconstruction of the old fortifications at the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. From 1973 to 1993, Kunětická hora was inaccessible to the public, but nowadays it is a sought-after destination for tourists. One of the legends says that Kunětická hora opens once a year.

Skuhrov nad Bělou lookout tower

A freely accessible lookout tower rises above the village of Skuhrov nad Bělou. At the same time, it stands in the places where the guard castle stood in the past. Access to the lookout tower is via wooden access stairs, and from the top you can enjoy a romantic view of the surroundings. From here you can see the village of Skuhrov itself, the valley of the Bělé River or perhaps the enchanting panorama of the Orlické Mountains.

Lookout tower Osičina near Vojenice

The Osičina lookout tower near Vojenice stands on the hill of the same name at an altitude of 416 meters. It is a lookout tower that also serves as a telecommunications mast for mobile phones. During the season, you can refresh yourself with cold and hot drinks. If you go to the observation tower in good weather, you will enjoy the view of Orlické hory, Kralický Sněžník, Adršpašsko and Krkonoše mountains.

Lookout Tower On Signal

You can find Na Signálu lookout tower on top of Signal at an altitude of 501 meters above sea level. The observation tower consists mainly of wood, and once you climb to its top, you will be able to enjoy the view of the far surroundings (for example, Ostaš, Jestřebí, Krkonoše or Kralický Sněžník) in good weather. You can combine a visit to the lookout tower with a tour of the pre-war line of heavy fortifications, which is located nearby.

Lookout Anna

The beautiful Anna lookout tower rises on Anenský vrch in Orlické hory at a height of 991 meters above sea level. The best way to get to it is to follow the red tourist sign from the Mezivrší parking lot. The observation tower itself is 17 meters high and consists of several types of wood.

Trail through the treetops of the Krkonoše Mountains

Near the Krkonoše Janské lázné spa is the Treetop Trail, which allows you to see the surroundings from a bird's eye view. The observation tower is 45 meters high and you will walk a total of 1,511 meters along the route. You can get down from the observation tower either classically on foot or via a toboggan. An integral part is the underground part, where you can see the micro world of the soil and the smallest animals.

Lookout tower Suchý vrch

This year-round lookout tower is located just a few meters below Suchý vrch itself, at an altitude of 975 meters. The Suchý vrch observation tower was originally built as a water tower. The interesting thing about it is that its shape resembles a mushroom. To get to the viewing platform, you will have to climb 130 steps. There is also a mountain restaurant on the ground floor of the observation tower, where you can have refreshments after the hike.

Czech Hobbiton in the Orlické Mountains

Go to a small hobbit village designed by one of the admirers of the books and fantasy stories of J. R. R. Tolkien, and then built on his property. Here you can admire three burrows, the Zelený drak pub and the Sudu dwelling. There are also bizarre fences and gardens richly planted with flowers and herbs. If you like to admire the beauty of underwater life, you should not miss this attraction in Hradec Králové. This is the largest freshwater aquarium in the Czech Republic. The closest refreshment awaits you in the Dobruška swimming area, located approximately 14 km from the cottage. During the holidays, you can use the local summer swimming pool, outside of this period the indoor pool is open. You can look forward to 4 swimming lanes, a children's pool and a hot tub. The summer swimming pool will then impress with a 50 m long pool and paddling pool with boletus. There is also a beach volleyball court in the complex.

Hanička Fortress was part of the pre-war fortification system that was built in the 1930s against Germany. Currently, you can view the fort on the basic or extended route. Here you can admire, for example, a former ammunition warehouse, an underground barracks or an artillery barracks.

Les Království water reservoir

This reservoir is rightfully considered one of the most beautiful dams in the Czech Republic. In 1964, it was also declared a national technical monument. Undoubtedly, its location in the wooded valley of the Elbe River and its overall architectural design, including the dam, are interesting.

Špičák ski resort

Špičák complex is located approximately 500 meters from Deštné in Orlické Mountains. It is a moderate slope that will please even less skilled skiers. The slope is 610 meters long and the elevation here is only 65 meters. The area includes parking, refreshments and social facilities. Children can have fun on the playground and toboggan run.

Ski resort Sedloňov

The Sedloňov ski resort is also popular with skiers and snowboarders, which offers a quieter environment and smaller queues. Here you can also enjoy night skiing for the public under powerful halogen lighting. The area includes three slopes (main, children's and tourist). Deštné offers great conditions for skiing and snowboarding. This is a well-known ski resort that is popular with both experienced skiers and beginners. It consists of two interconnected areas, where you can look forward to four lifts and two cable cars. One part is aimed at more experienced riders, while the other will be appreciated, for example, by families with children. Evening skiing is also popular here.

You can find this ski area approximately 16 km from Rychnov nad Kněžnou. Here you can try four lifts and four slopes of different length and difficulty. Modern contactless check-in equipment ensures a smooth and fast transport. Evening skiing is regularly organized on the main slope. There is also a children's corner and opportunities for refreshments.

Šerlišský mlýn slope

This slope stands out because it usually has the longest lasting snow cover in Deštné. It includes two ski lifts and consists of a 500 m long slope with an even slope, which is also suitable for children and ski beginners. The tow is equipped with a self-retracting double anchor. A separate part then consists of a special children's cable ski lift, which is intended for teaching at the local ski school.

You can find this ski area on the south-eastern side of the Zakletý hill, and thanks to its modern equipment, it ranks among the TOP ski centers in our country. You can use four slopes and a special training meadow. Families with children will also come to their senses, as they will appreciate the moving belt and carousel. You can park for free in the immediate vicinity of this resort.

Ski resort Zieleniec

You can enjoy skiing to the fullest in this resort. You can look forward to 23 kilometers of groomed slopes, which vary in length and difficulty. The longest slope measures 2,800 meters. If you are among the fans of adrenaline, you can also dare to go down the black slope Na krechę. In addition, most slopes have artificial lighting, thanks to which you can enjoy skiing until 9 pm.
